Savage Lewis Gun from WWl

(1/1)

Garnett:
My son found a dewat Savage made Lewis gun for auction.  Starting bid at $2K.  Expected to bring $2K to $4K.  I would love to have it, but too rich for my blood!  :(  I do have hopes of finding one with a dummy receiver that I may can afford that is not covered by the NFA.

Mike Armstrong:
Those old guns were a very successful design.  They were used and made in many countries and some even showed up in Korea, on the wrong side, of course.  They were ex-Japanese 7.7mm rimmed copies of the British .303s models, widely used by the Japanese air forces, both naval and army, and refitted with ground mounts.   The Chinese bagged a world of Japanese weaponry after WWII.

Don't know where Savage made ones showed up, but I would suspect that they were a popular surplus item that got used in many "little wars" after The Big One!

Garnett:
I found a source in New Zealand today for a Savage Lewis dummy gun, mostly metal, with some moving parts.  $2000 NZD plus shipping.  Just more than my bill fold can stand. :-[
