Title: Production Numbers
Post by: Garnett on October 03, 2014, 01:57:45 PM
A reader of my book shared some information on production numbers with me that he found.  Production numbers are discussed on page 18 of my book.  There a lot of figures given at different places about both models.  The reader found a source that says 12,500 M219s and 50,000 M220s were made at the Utica plant from 1938 to 1945.  These are in line with one of the sources I quote in my book.  Both guns are listed in the 1937 Savage catalogs, but of course, that does not necessarly mean they started production that year.

Within the past few days I found another source that says that from 1938 to 1945, 12,500 Model 219's were made.  It also says from 1937 (note one year earlier) to 1945, that 50,000 M220 shotguns were made.
