220a 28 gauge photos as promissed
« on: August 16, 2018, 02:11:16 PM »
Good day, eh! Has a few surface rust spot but no bluing wear and the bore is pristine. Time to clean it up and put a better finish on the wood so it will last another 50 + years. Yes, Garnett, the inspector marks on the barrel and action match. So it is original. People up here in Canada often have a habit of buying guns and then not using them much.

A beautiful and hard to find gun.  Is that an "8" stamped inside the forearm?  Thanks for the pictures and the information on matching numbers!

Yes, the stamp is like the 8 on my two 220a 20 gauge forearms. I will compare the dimensions to confirm that they used the same forearms for both gauges on the post Utica models. It cost me the equivalent of 300$ U.S. I thought that was a fair price based on the condition. Don't want to start a bidding war.

Thanks for confirming the 8, and that it is the same number on your 2, 20 gauge guns.  That was a great price!

One more question.  Are all 3 forearms with the "8" inside, the same shape outside, or are they different?

I looked at them this afternoon as I started the the clean up process. Swapping them back and forth I would definitely say they are they same. I have noticed that they all have a slight left to right bias at the front. Not sure why. I will post pictures of the final product.

Cheers
