80% receiver/action
« on: May 13, 2015, 01:05:50 PM »
Hello.  Does anyone know where I may find an unfinished pivot action such as the 219 Savage/1871 H&R?   I am asking if anyone here can make these or do any of you know anyone that can make them for anybody interested?

I have never seen or heard of an 80% receiver for this model Savage single shot.  I have seen several stripped actions for sale.  Also, somewhere in this forum one person is planning on building a new action that will accept a double set trigger.  You might try contacting him or check Gunboards for a stripped action.  Would you share with us what you are planning on doing with it?  Good luck on your hunt.  Garnett

Also not sure what you mean by "80% finished."  If you mean unblued or unengraved, you should be able to find something.  If you mean missing some of the necessary machining to make it function, well that would be a rare bird probably found only in a gun manufacturers scrap dumpster!

It isn't hard to find a Thompson Center "Contender" single shot action alone, although they would normally be "100% finished" and are more like the H&R mechanically (has a hammer) than the 219.

A TCR '83 or '87 action is a little more like a 219 mechanically (hammerless) but would be much harder to find than a Contender.  And you normally don't find them as actions alone.  The TCR also came with 12 guage shotgun barrels somewhat like the 219 "combinations;" the Contender only came with smallbore shotgun barrels (.410 and 28 guage) because the frame is too narrow for larger shotgun barrels.

What I mean is there are 80% lowers being manufactured by the AR aftermarket.  Do any of you know if there is a company that will manufacture an 80% single shot break action receiver?

I do not know of any company making an 80% receiver.  Savage sold the manufacturing rights to the M219/220 single shots years ago and no one has started to remake them.

An 80% receiver made by an aftermarket company using ANY brand as the mold - such as TC, CVA, H&R, etc...

Thanks.  Happy new year to you too.  There are aftermarket companies now making 80% 1911 receivers.  I recently came across a ten year old forum where the topic was about a company manufacturing 80% falling block receivers - that company is not in business anymore.

Thanks for your replies and again - Happy New Year!
