I found one that had been converted to .219 Zipper Improved. I had a gunsmith reline and rechamber it to .25-20 WCF since the rechambered barrel wasn't the right diameter for the liner I prefer to make it a .22 Hornet. The guy who now has it loves it.
I think that the 219s are fine with rifle ctgs that operate at .30-30 chamber pressures and backthrust levels. The .30-40 Krag also works fine if you have a .30-30 with a rough chamber but a good bore. Higher pressure than those is pushing the limits too far for me.
The .25-35 is an ideal caliber for this kind of rifle and I wondered why Savage didn't try that in the 219 since they made 99s in that caliber. I know a guy who relined a .30-30 219 to .25-35 and loves it with pointed bullets in that long barrel. The original extractor works fine without changes if you do this conversion to a .30-30 with a lousy bore.
