If you have a copy of my book, a set of installation instructions are listed in the chapter on sights. While they are for installing the Model 53 on a 220 shotgun, I would think they would also apply for a 219 rifle. I am away from home and cannot copy and paste them. They are:
Besure the screws do not interfere with the functioning of the gun. Try to mount the sight where there is sufficient metal to support the screws. It is important to get the sight as low as possible and as far back on the action as it will go. Make sure the sight does not tip forward or backward. When you have the base at the best location on the action, fasten it with a parallel clamp, placing a piece of heavy paper or cardboard over the outside of the base to protect the finish. Leave all screw holes exposed. Check for alignment. Spot the holes, just breaking the outside surface of the receiver to make a twisting point for the tap drill. A 1/8 or No. 30 drill will be necessary. Then drill with the tap drill (No. 38) and tap with a 1/8 x 40 or 5-40 tap. Put in the screw after again checking the alignment. Proceed with the second hole in a like manner. Finally, take the sight, remove the burrs, and clean the receiver and sight and replace. Make sure the screws are tight. I hope this will help.
