Tenite stock on a 219/220?
« on: August 22, 2019, 01:56:27 PM »
Hi all, has anyone ever run across either a 219 or a 220 with a Tenite stock? Tenite was a plastic type of material first developed in the 1929/30s and used as a replacement for wood. Savage used it on the model 94s, 87 (.22RF), and the 240 shotgun. There's one for sale in 25-20 with, the receiver is an A type with no markings.

I have never seen a 219 or 220 with a Tenite stock, but I have seen the stocks and forearms for sale.  Could be that someone put this on a wood stocked gun.  However, I have seen some items on the 219/220's that are NOT advertised in the catalogs that I believe to be factory original, so....someone could have special ordered the gun with this type stock & forearm.  Also, on EBay there is a wood stock and forearm for sale that the seller says is off a .25-20.  Personally, I would not  care about the wood/Tenite.  If the price for the .25-20 is reasonable,  I would buy it.  They are very hard to find.  Please keep us posted.

Made some time to go and look at this rifle. Took the fore arm off and there was lettering " 410 ga" . That tells me all I need to know. As for the cost, let's say he thinks he has a very rare item with a price tag  to match. If we started at half the asking price it would be to much.  It did look kind of cool with the Tenite stock I have to say. I my try putting together something similar. Oh well nothing lost but a few hours and gas money.

I was surfing the net last night and saw a picture, only, of a M219 in .30-30, with a Tenite stock and forearm.  No details, so don't know if original or not.  However, in doing research for my book, I have found several options on the rifle and shotgun M219/220 that ARE NOT listed in the catalogs, but appear to be factory original.  So....???
