Ok.  I know this is an older post, but it gave me some inspiration to get some optical help on a couple of 219s.. I'm having a short rail put on one of my 219s. The Leapold H&R muzzle loader rail perfectly fits the barrel concave and I'm having one put on a 219 30-30 project. Another set of bases that will work are the Savage B22 bases. I may use them on another 219. I'll put up some pictures when I get them back.

I was using the factory official measurement.  I just put a wood dowel down the barrel of my rifle from the muzzle end.  My actual measurement was 18 and 1/8 inches using a fairly new retractable tape measure.  I then measured with a many years old wooden yard stick, and the measurement was 1/16 of an inch shorter.  So, 18 plus inches.  I wonder if the owners of the 20/21's were just guessing?

Other Savage, Stevens, & Fox Firearms / Stevens No. 10 Custom Barrel
« Last post by Garnett on July 15, 2023, 02:00:37 PM »
I purchased a custom made Octagon barrel for the Stevens No. 10 pistol.  It was listed as .22 caliber.  When it arrived, I discovered it is actually in .32 Stevens Short rim fire caliber.  It is old and very high quality work.  My question, does anyone have a similar caliber barrel for this model, and has the firing pin been modified in anyway to hit the rim of this larger caliber cartridge?

As I mentioned, I am researching for a book on this Ithaca single shot.  I have found two for sale this week saying one had a 20" barrel and the other a 21" barrel.  So far in my research, it appears all factory models had 18" barrels.  Please contact me if you have one with a longer than 18" barrel, and whether or not you think the barrel is original, or a replacement.  Thanks for your help.  Garnett

Sorry BT for the late reply, but I haven’t got it mounted yet. The base is approximately 4.41 inches long and the gap is .835 long or less.Ring slots on base are 3.65 for the outer ones and 2.20 for the inner. Hope you find this somewhat useful. Also this is the Warne mount.

I am in the process of writing a new book on the Ithaca Model 49 single shot rifle.  If you have one that is different from the standard model, will you please share your information and pictures with me for use in the new book?  I will acknowledge the information with your name if you give permission to do so.  Thanks for any help.  Best wishes, Garnett
